In the Maya Q’qnjobal dialect from Huehuetenango, “Waykan” means “Star (or light) that shines in the sky at night.”
One of the most famous coffee-growing regions in Guatemala, Huehuetenango is considered an important coffee economy. Around 80% of the population makes its living from coffee either directly or indirectly.
The producers of Waykan are situated in the municipalities of Chajul, Quiche, Cotzal, y Nebaj and its ethnicities are: Ixil, Kiche, Q’anjobal, Guatemalan mestizo.
In the cup, we get mild, sweet, clean and juicy with chocolate notes, along with toffee and lemon flavor with a nutty aftertaste.
